It then rises up to your consciousness where it will disappear forever. You will find that you have more energy to devote to being more creative instead of struggling to hold down these destructive energies. This is why most people feel like they constantly have a battle going on within them. Its like holding down an inflated tire under water. Its a continual struggle. You must let the tire up. Once you have let go of the battle within, you will feel tremendous relief come over you. This is true liberation. " (The Daily Guru)

REWRITING YOUR STORY: From the Old to the New

Movies. We can't turn around these days without seeing or hearing the latest and greatest in creative minds. Creative minds communicating, that is. That's what it's all about - communication. Communication is the core of our lives. We cannot get around it. And whatever we think, say, and do in our lives, we are communicating all of that in some fashion. So, in essence our lives are like movies. Shakespeare said that 'all the world's a stage'. Well yes it is - we tell stories about every aspect of our lives - we enact and re-enact what we believe, perceive, think, say, see, and feel. And we churn out our life into one big story.

So here's an exercise for you: Think about your life movie, right now. Remove yourself and become the third party sitting back and watching it all unfold before you. So how your life has played out to date. What is your movie called? Is it a drama, comedy of errors, Shakespearean tragedy, comedy, horror, B-movie, love story? Now ask yourself if this is the way you would have wanted the movie to turn out? In fact, if you were writing this movie, what would you have wanted to see in it? Remember all those times that you actually went to a movie theater and didn't like the ending? Or found out from the DVD later what the alternate endings were and what was actually chosen for the final cut?

Here's the surprise - YOU are the writer of the movie. Better yet, you are also director, producer and have the starring role. You can write and re-write and make your movie into anything you wish. The mind is unlimited and powerful. It can create absolutely anything. What and how you think, what you believe, what you fear and love - all goes into the movie of your life. If you could imagine the perfect life story what would be in it? What would it look like? For example, would it be happy and fulfilling? Can you imagine a happy, fulfilling life? Well, that's something you can write into your script if you want it. Decide that your life will be a happy, content and purposeful one with a great ending. And it doesn't matter if your life didn't start out so positive or the ups and downs along the way to where you are now. You can still make your changes here and now - in the present.

So now that you've ascertained what you want the movie to look like from the skeletal frame, what are you going to do now to flesh it out? Do you have a big dream that you wish to see into fruition? Do you have goals? Do you need to make some? Do you need to look at how you think about things? the words that you choose to utter? is there negative self-talk that's programmed that needs reassessment and replacement? Perhaps you need to complete, delete or clear things up with people, things or situations in order to keep moving forward more freely.

Here in North America, Hallowe'en is just right around the corner. It amazes me that for one day, some of us put on a costume and decide to live in a particular story that we deem to be true. So perhaps creating your life movie is like living Hallowe'en every day. Every day can be a reframing day. What if...you chose to look at a difficult situation as an opportunity for learning something new? What if...your annoyance at your partner's dirty socks on the floor was actually turned into the perspective of gratefulness that this person worked hard at their job? What if...you chose to change your negative response to the noisy screaming kids into a positive one? What if...you decided to actually set some goals toward something that you only have thinking about for years to accomplish? Wow - what could your movie actually be like then?

By re-writing your movie and crafting your story, you are in control of the way it turns out. All you have to do is want to do it. It's that simple.
