REFLECTIONS & INTENTIONS - WHO DO YOU WANT TO BE in 2006?

When you look in the mirror, what do you see? How do you see yourself? How do you feel? In fact, how do you see the last year of your life? Would you consider it successful? Happy? Mixed bag? Uneventful? If you were to take an assessment of yourself in this past year what would have done differently? Would there have been anything that stayed the same? What would you consider to be your most significant moments of 2005? Which area would these significant moments fall under - health, wealth, relationships, career, transitions, friends/family, business, new home, social network? Are there any specific people who have a played a special role in this moments?

And given your answers to these questions, now if you zoom ahead to December 2006, how do you think you will see yourself? What type of person do you think you will be?

As any new year approaches it is considered the norm to look ahead and resolve to make changes in our lives. We think about setting intentions for the year ahead. Often they are in regards to something we believe that we should quit - smoking, losing weight, or something we think we should begin or do more of - exercise, personal connections, self-time, etc. And we also tend set specific targets and goals, or items we want to acquire. And for many people there can be much value in that. But there is one more thing - a BIG thing - and that is the opportunity to create significant lasting change towards an abundant, and fulfilling life.

Instead of ONLY resolving to make changes in the physical arena, I invite you to consider setting the following intentions for the New Year:

By reflecting on my life purpose in order to contribute my unique gifts to the world, I choose to focus on the following _____________

I will expand myself this year by doing ______________

Over the course of this next year I plan on learning ______________ in order to ______________

By this time next year, I will be the type of person that ________________

In this coming year, I will challenge myself to expand and personally evolve by doing _______________

This year, I will do __________________ to create more meaning in my life.

Goals and targets are wonderful. In fact, they are down right useful in so many areas. However, it is my experience that the deeper reflections and questions outweigh many of the external changes we usually intend to make. So, as 2005 comes to a close, take some time to reflect on this past year. Assess your journey. Acknowledge yourself for being on it. Share this with others if you compelled. Acknowledge them too. And then set intentions for the person you would like to see starting back at you in the mirror by next December.
